Why blogging is good for business

You’ve probably heard that having a company blog is good for business but have no idea where to start or even the time to write one. Here are a few reasons why a blog is a fantastic tool to promote your brand with a few cheeky tips as well.

Awareness of your brand

The first step of the customer journey is awareness. A person must have heard about your business, what you sell and not only that, but actually like it and like you, in order to become a customer. Blogging for your business is an opportunity to really connect with your readers.

Which salesperson would you buy from? The cold, slightly aloof one or the warm, friendly sales person who it turns out went to the same school as you and also has a kid that won’t eat vegetables? You even went off on a tangent a little with this last one and ended up laughing so hard about the time you tried to puree peas and put them into the pasta sauce….anyway….back to the list….but I hope you get my point.

Top tip: First you must identify your reader. It can be really helpful to imagine a ‘customer avatar’ a typical person who meets the criteria of your target consumer. Then imagine you are writing to them. Understand who your customer is, what they already know, what they want to know and most importantly of all, what their ‘pain point’ is. How can you make their life better with your product?

Be authentically you

Be authentic. A blog is an opportunity to tell the story of your brand and make it relatable and likeable. As humans, we love stories, and a good story will have your reader hooked. We buy from people that speak to us on our level, and sell the dream that we aspire to achieve.

Show that you understand your customer, talk to them as though you were a good friend trying to help them out.

Top tip: The only unique thing on the internet is you. There is no other business that is exactly the same as yours. You have faith in your brand – so convey this through your content. Showing off and sleazy sales are sooo 80s and readers can spot this a mile away, so keep it simple and helpful. If your intention is good and your product is of high value, then the rest should come easily.

And of course……..good old SEO

A blog article is a fantastic opportunity to use SEO to get found on google. After all, there’s no point having a wonderful toy shop in Northampton if your website doesn’t come up when someone googles ‘toy shops in Northampton’. Pretty logical, but you’d be amazed how often this is overlooked. Blogging with SEO in mind can change this, and can get your website showing up on search results.

Top tip: SEO can take a long time to really master, but it really is worth it. There are literally tonnes of articles and videos online that will teach you how to use SEO. If you seriously want to get your rankings higher on google, then taking the time to learn this skill will pay off. If you don’t have time to invest in this, or if it all makes your eyes whirl around in circles, then hiring a copywriter might be a smart move.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions, or need a content writer for your blog articles then hit me up!
